The Bayshore Condominiums

Nuclear Public Alerting System (Sirens and Mass Notification) Fall Testing

As part of the Region’s program of Nuclear Public Alerting System testing, this is to advise that testing of the emergency mass telephone dialling for indoor notification will take place throughout the 10km Primary Zone of the Darlington and Pickering Nuclear Generating Stations on Tuesday, October 24th, during regular daytime business hours (i.e. after 9am and before 5pm). Messaging on this date will raise public awareness of siren activation on the following day.

Sirens installed in the 3km Contiguous Zone of the nuclear station will be activated on Wednesday, October 25th, also during regular business hours. Activation of the sirens raises public awareness of what to expect when sirens sound. On October 25th, sirens will sound for up to one minute (FYI, sirens would sound for at least three minutes in the event of an actual nuclear emergency). This is only a test; no action is required by anyone who may hear the sirens on that date.

Please find attached copy of the Public Service Announcement that was distributed today through our Corporate Communications Office. I am also attaching, for your information, a copy of the Public Notice, to be published in the October 19th edition of the Metroland newspaper(s). This and other information regarding the testing will be posted on the Region’s website as well as our Twitter and Facebook accounts, in an effort to increase public awareness. We encourage staff from your respective organizations to monitor these accounts, and repost information to your own sites as appropriate.

Please feel free to distribute this information as you deem appropriate. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your support.
